I started training in person centred therapy over 12 years ago and have years of experience working with people who are striving to understand themselves and these complicated lives that we are all living. I will never get over how much courage it takes to reach out for help at a time of crisis and I am always blown away at the strength and resilience of the human mind. I truly believe that we all have the potential to grow and heal and that counselling works to facilitate this process. I offer open-ended person centred counselling with a warm, genuine and non-judgemental attitude in a completely safe space. I am committed to helping you work towards your goals and face what needs to be faced, at your own pace, one session at a time.
Counselling is for everyone. Not just those who may consider themselves to be in an extreme crisis. We are all striving to live our lives in the best possible way but sometimes our environment, our relationships or life events make this difficult or sometimes impossible. We all require extra support at some point in our lives — sometimes you do just need a non-judgemental person to talk to, who can walk alongside you for a little while. Whatever your situation or difficulty, you’ll be warmly welcomed by me.
I understand that it is vital that you find a counsellor that you really connect with so please do get in touch for an introductory session. During this session we can talk more about what your hopes and goals are for counselling and you can decide if you feel we will work well together.
I am a fully qualified person centred counsellor, a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and bound by their ethical framework.
What is Person Centred Therapy?
The Person-Centred Approach is based on a deep respect for the person and the belief that the relationship between the counsellor and the client is of primary importance. It is the client who knows what hurts and has the capacity within the safety of a therapeutic relationship to begin a healing process.
The essential qualities which we believe create a safe, supportive and challenging therapeutic environment include:
A deep acceptance of the person
A desire to understand that person
A commitment to being genuine in the relationship
Training, qualifications & experience
Further training and experience
